Fall Play: Auditions open to all students in a JagTheatre course in Semester 1 and/or Semester 2.

Spring Musical: Open to all CHS students.

ITS-Sponsored Productions: Eligibility based on decisions made by student leadership.

Spring Student Production: Eligibility based on decisions made by student leadership.

How much does it cost to join a show?
What is the time commitment?

The rehearsal time commitment depends on the show, but generally students can expect to stay after school 4-5 days per week between the audition and show-time. The closer the show gets, the longer the rehearsals extend with a typical 9:00 pm end-time during Tech Week.

In addition to rehearsals, at least one community work day is scheduled, and all families of show participants are strongly encouraged to attend.

After shows on performance nights, all cast and crew remain in the theatre for post-show notes from the director(s).
What if the student has other after-school commitments?
What are the auditions like?

Audition requirements depend on the show:

Fall Play
A one-minute monologue is required, and materials are provided for students who do not have a selection prepared in advance.

Spring Musical
A 1-minute monologue and 16 bars of a song are required. It is recommended that the song selection is not from the show. Materials are provided for students who do not have a selection prepared in advance.

ITS-Sponsored Productions and Spring Student Production
Traditionally these auditions are “come as you are” and be prepared to read lots of things from a variety of scripts provided.
How do callbacks work?

Callbacks are generally only used for the mainstage productions of Fall Play and Spring Musical, and they typically only occur when the producers are deciding between multiple actors for one part. Callbacks do not reflect main character role casting nor are they correlated with an actor’s performance at the audition.
